Nokia Confirming various speculations about the launch date of the buzz making Lumia 1520 phablet, Nokia has finally announced to hold an event on October 22. Though the company has not really mentioned the place of the event, with sand dunes and desert in the picture, we are certain that it will be held in Abu Dhabi. We, anyways, were expecting the launch to happen around that time considering that Nokia usually hosts its annual Nokia World event around that time of the year.

Nokia lunched Lumia 925 and Lumia 625 in India offically

After a long wait, Nokia has launched the Lumia 925 in India for Rs 33,499. Of course we had been expecting this for quite some time, and the phone had gone up for pre-order with online retailers. In addition to this, even the Lumia 625 has been launched in India for Rs 19,999. Even this smartphone went up for pre-order with e-retailers in the country.

It goes without saying that the Lumia 925 has been the most awaited Windows Phone for Indian customers for sometime especially since its official global unveil in May. The Lumia 925 marks a departure from the polycarbonate industrial design language that has become a signature trait of Nokia’s Windows Phone portfolio. Instead, for the first time the company has used an aluminium chassis in conjunction with a polycarbonate cap for the back. This has resulted in the thinnest Lumia smartphone which measures 8.5mm and is starkly lighter than the Lumia 920 at 139 grams.

The stars are slowly aligning for a 6" 1080p Nokia phablet with Snapdragon 800 power. The information is pretty circumstantial, but it's there – in a Bluetooth SIG filing and from data collected by AdDuplex.

AdDuplex collects stats on Windows Phone handsets and found in its logs a few unofficial Nokia devices like the RM-937, RM-927 and RM-940. RM-937 reported a scale factor (a measurement showing the relation between screen resolution and size) of 150, which is what 720p phones report. However, Nokia doesn’t have 720p devices, only WXGA (1280 x 768 instead of 1280 x 720).

The product features a 13.3-inch full HD IPS touchscreen display and features an Intel i5 processor, but unfortunately the chipset in question is not the latest Haswell fourth generation chipset, but is rather the third generation Ivy Bridge version. Analyst says Nokia should look to Android to stay afloat

Many attribute Nokia's decline in recent years to its exclusive reliance on Microsoft's Windows Phone platform as its only outlet into the world of smartphones. Now one analyst argues that if Nokia has any hope of righting the ship, it must begin manufacturing Android smartphones.

Pierre Ferragu of Bernstein Research urges that Nokia must "take the pill before one cannot afford to do so anymore… its exposure to the disappearing feature phone market and the lack of traction of Windows phones could cost Nokia a lot of cash in the near term, in restructuring, marketing/distribution support, and operational losses, which means it could be too late to address the problem in a couple of years."
