Sony launches Xperia R1 and R1 Plus in India

Sony launched two new handsets in the Indian markets, the Sony Xperia R1 and the Sony Xperia R1 Plus. These smartphones are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon octa-core processor and R1 is priced at Rs. 12,990 and R1 Plus at Rs. 14,990.



Both the handset comes with the same features, in fact, the company should have used just one name i.e. R1, cause the only difference between R1 and R1 Plus is the RAM / ROM.  Sony Xperia R1 comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM and Sony Xperia R1 Plus comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM.

R1 and R1 Plus are dual SIM handset running Android Nougat and will get Android Oreo. The Screen on both the handsets is of size 5.2 inches, 2.5D curved glass and supporting 1280 x 720 pixels resolution.



These smartphones are powered by Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 505 GPU. Weight is 154 grams, and thickness is 8.89mm. On the back the primary camera can shoot in 13MP resolution, comes with LED flash support and on the front, there is a 8MP camera with predictive hybrid Autofocus.

Other features are 4G, VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS with GLONASS, USB Type C port and Wi-Fi. A 2620 mAh battery powers these smartphones.



Sony Xperia R1 price in India is Rs. 12,990 and the Sony Xperia R1 Plus comes for Rs. 14,990. These new smartphones will hit the stores on 10th November.

Sony launched QX10 and QX100 lens type camera in India for Rs 12990 andRs 24990

Just like at the IFA, along with the Xperia Z1 Sony also launched its lens type camera attachments for smartphones in India. Both the variants—QX10 and QX100— have been launched for Rs 12,990 and Rs 24,990 respectively and will be available from today onwards.





To remind you, these cameras are meant to work with smartphones and connect to the device via NFC or Wi-Fi. The smartphone’s display acts as the viewfinder, while the lenses themselves have manual controls and memory card slot. These lenses are compatible with Android as well as iOS devices and need the user to download the PlayMemories mobile app to operate them.

Talking of features, weighing in at about 179 grams, the QX100 comes with a 20.2-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor and an f/1.8 Carl Zeiss lens with 3.6X optical zoom. The QX10, on the other hand, weighs 105 grams with battery and memory stick, and comes with an 18.2-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor with 10x zoom and an f/3.5-3.9 Sony G lens.





Both the lenses can record full HD videos at 12-megapixel with 1920×1080 pixels resolution at 30fps in the MP4 format and can shoot even in low lighting situations. We have got some time with the two accessories and will have our first impressions up soon.








Sony launched SmartWatch 2 in India for Rs 14,990

Samsung launched its Galaxy Gear smartwatch yesterday, and right on its heels is Sony, which moments ago launched its SmartWatch 2 at an event in Delhi. Compared to the Galaxy Gear, the SmartWatch 2 is priced at Rs 14,990 and will be available from October onwards.





The smartwatch, which was announced earlier this year at the Mobile Asia Expo, is essentially a smartphone companion device that is water-resistant and supports NFC to easily pair with compatible Android devices.

Design-wise the smartwatch is 42x9x41mm in dimensions and along with the metal strap weighs in at 122.5 grams. It is built using stainless steel and aluminum that helps in meeting IP57 standards for water and dust resistance.

In terms of specifications, the SmartWatch 2 features a 1.6-inch Transflective LCD (220×176 pixels) display, connectivity options like Bluetooth 3.0 and NFC and is compatible with devices running on Android 4.0 and later. The device is charged using the micro-USB port and according to Sony, the battery is good enough for up to 4 days of usage.

In addition to working as a notification device for missed calls, messages and event reminders, Sony says that they have a huge number of apps on the Play Store that will work on the smartwatch, some of which are Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, Google+, RSS, Music player and a remote camera shutter among others.

Sony Xperia Z1 launched in India for Rs 44,990

Back at the IFA conference in Berlin, Sony grabbed the headlines with its Xperia Z1 Android smartphone that boast of a massive 20.7-megapixel camera. Though Sony didn’t reveal any dates then, we exclusively revealed that the smartphone would be launched in India on September 18. Right on cue, Sony today launched the device at an event in Delhi for Rs 44,990 and it will be available from today onwards.



The Xperia Z1 follows Sony’s ‘Omni-Balance’ design language and like other recent Xperia flagships is waterproof and dustproof. Its USP is the 20.7-megapixel rear camera, which includes a 1/2.3-inch Exmor RS CMOS image sensor, Sony’s G Lens and “BIONZ for mobile” image processing engine. Additionally the camera also offers add-ons like Info-eye (visual search), AR effect, Timeshift burst and Social live.

Talking of specifications, the Xperia Z1 flaunts a 5-inch full HD (1980×1080 pixels) display with Sony’s Triluminus display technology. It is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC, which is supplemented by 2GB of RAM and Adreno 330 graphics.

In addition to the aforementioned rear camera, the device also features 16GB on expandable memory, a 3,000mAh battery and it runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Stay tuned for our first impressions to know just how good the smartphone is.

Sony unveils QX lens-style cameras Cyber-shot QX100 and QX10 at IFA Berlin

Sony officially unveiled the hotly anticipated Xperia Z1 that has become well-known under the internal petname Honami. The Z1 brought friends on stage – the QX line of lens-style cameras and a number of other accessories.

The Sony Cyber-shot QX line of lens-style cameras launches with two models – the QX100 and QX10. Both have their own optics and image sensor and can use an Android or iOS device as viewfinder (pairing is done with NFC if available then the image is streamed over Wi-Fi).

The Z1 is undoubtedly the star of the show – measuring just 8.5mm in thickness, the Xperia Z1 houses a large 1/2.3" sensor – that's about 70% larger than the sensors on most phones and Sony achieved it without a hump on the back like most other handsets with large sensors.

Sony release the teaser of Sony Xperia Z1

The first teaser video of Sony Xperia Z1 also known as Honami has just been published by the Japanese maker. Unfortunately the video is a combination of all teaser pictures we've seen so far and gives us no new details.



Sony has already showed us the power key, the water-proof panels, the G-lens at the back, as well the slim profile which also revealed the announcement date - September 4. Yes, it's the same day Samsung will premiere the Galaxy Note III.

The Sony Xperia Honami is back in more spy shots – these show it from all sides and give us a much better look at the design. It looks like the device isn’t final though.The back is quite interesting – it's built from some patterned matte plastic rather than glass, though that can change for the final version.

Leaked images of Sony Xperia ZU shows how big it is!

GSMarena posted two images of the Sony Xperia ZU (codename Togari) 0n it site. One is an official-looking promo image that shows someone using a pencil to operate the ZU, while the second image is a photo that reveals just how big Sony's upcoming phablet is.
When we first heard the pencil as a stylus rumor, we thought it was a little crazy, but most leaks so far have mentioned it. We'll have to wait and see what it offers in terms of accuracy and pressure sensitivity.

Sony Xperia Z with stock Android coming soon rumour

Nexus user experience seems to be the new trend in the Android smartphone market. After theSamsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One, rumours have surfaced that the Nexus experience will be coming to the Sony Xperia Z.

Android Geeks reported that the Google Edition of Sony's flagship device can be expected soon. The website claims that a Sony official who wishes to stay anonymous has confirmed that the Google Edition of the device will be announced sometime in July.
