Nokia codename Pegasus, Lanai to be 3G-enabled Asha 502, Asha 503

Nokia is all set to launch the next variants after the Asha 501, at least that’s what @evleaks would like us to believe. He claims that the next Asha phones are codenamed Pegasus and Lanai, which would be launched as Asha 502 and Asha 503. This could very well be the 3G variant of the Asha 501 with slightly better features.

At the global launch of the Asha 501 in New Delhi in May, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop had told BGR India that Nokia was working on an 3G variant though he was reluctant to give any timeline. “This is the first in a family of Asha phones and a 3G model is coming. It was all about optimizing resources and getting the first product out as soon as possible,” Elop had then said. Probably, the launch is close.

The Asha 502 and Asha 503 could be those devices, with one of them being a dual-SIM variant while the other accommodating a single SIM. Earlier leaks have suggested that the 3G variant would also have a better 5-megapixel camera with flash. Nokia is also planning to bring its Music Store to the new Asha full-touch range.

However, the pricing that Nokia is able to achieve for the 3G variants considering anything above $100 will touch smartphone territory, including Nokia’s own Lumia 510 Windows Phone smartphone.
