Motorola Moto X back covers leaked show multiple custom options

Just yesterday, we reported about Google’s “Designed by you. Assembled in the USA” ad campaign for the forthcoming Moto X phone and also its plan to allow users to customize their own phones. Now French website NoWhereElse has leaked the first photo of the customizable back panels for the Moto X.

The report says that users will be able to customize the look and feel of the phone rather than hardware specifications. They will be able to choose what color back panels they want and also what color trim they want at the front to complement the back. Motorola is believed to be offering around 16 different color options, which will have a mixture of bright and sober colors like black and grey. As far as we can tell, the above back panels are quite consistent with the photo of the Moto X that leaked last week.

In addition to the above, ABC news reports what other customizing options Motorola is likely to offer. According to the report, users will be able to visit the phone’s website and besides choosing colors for the back panel and the front trim, they will be able to engrave a message or name on the back of the phone and also upload a photo to be used as personal wallpaper.

Rumors so far indicate that the Moto X is likely to feature a 4.6-inch display, 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon MSM8960 Pro processor, 2GB RAM, 10-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel secondary camera and 16GB of internal memory. The ABC news report also mentions that Motorola might offer users the freedom to choose how much storage they want in their phones.
