Moto X to feature Open Mic hands-free voice command feature

After a lot of rumors and rendered photos, we finally got to see the first real photos of the highly-anticipated Moto X when Google’s executive chairman Eric Schmidt was pictured using the phone. Now, the phone has cropped up on a couple of videos, which show some of the new software add-ons that will be introduced on the device including a new Open Mic feature, Engadget reports.

The first video uploaded by kronikbudz shows the Open Mic feature, which is essentially a Google Now voice command feature. The interesting thing about this feature is that it can be activated even when the display is off by saying a custom phrase.

The other video seems to be a promotional video for network carrier Rogers (it’s been taken down since), which again shows the aforementioned Open Mic feature. Additionally, the video also shows a new way to activate the camera when the display is off – by twisting one’s wrist twice.

It is difficult to say if the above features will be exclusive to the Moto X or if they will be introduced on the forthcoming version of Android. We will have to wait till later this year to know for sure.
