Karbonn to launch Titanium S6 with Snapdragon processor in July

Karbonn cashing on the success of the Titanium series of phones, Karbonn Mobiles is reportedly working on the next model in the series and will name it as the Titanium S6. A report by NDTV Gadgets suggests that the smartphone will flaunt a full-HD display offering 1080p resolution and might be introduced in the second week of July.



Knowing that the sub-Rs 20,000 market is amongst the most flourishing segments in India, the report also suggests that this phone will be priced attractively within the price range. Moreover, the report has quoted Pradeep Jain, managing director of Karbonn Mobiles saying that, “Our aim at Karbonn is not to provide the cheapest smartphone is the category but a quality product in the market. We have done that with our past products and we will continue to do the same with Titanium S6.”

In terms of major specifications, Karbonn will stick to the Qualcomm for its Snapdragon processor, which have earlier been used in other Titanium phones as well. Another point of attraction would be support for stylus, which were lately seen in many devices including the Micromax Doodle A111 amongst the local mobile players and Asus FonePad Note and Samsung Galaxy Note amongst the OEMs.

Talking about the software, though there is nothing being confirmed about the Android version on the phone, considering the current trend, we expect the phone to run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Nothing in terms of camera and memory has been revealed yet.

There are very few options that offer a full-HD display in this price range. One amongst these is the recently announced Lemon Aspire A4 which comes with a 5-inch full-HD offering 1080p and is priced for Rs 17,999. Moreover, Micromax is also working on the Canvas 4 which might feature a full-HD display but is expected to be a rather high end smartphone.

All this is also dependent on what CPU the device ends up using, because that will dictate the core capabilities of the device.
